SOPHIE is a one woman opera that follows the life of a theatre actress. She recounts her life and lustrous career to a room full of reporters, but as the stories begin to unfold, her world crumbles into a brutal reality.

SOPHIE was my Master's Thesis, written between 2014-2015, about a woman living with schizophrenia. The piece was dedicated to my grandfather who passed in 2002 and was schizophrenic.

Presented with Toronto-based pianist Bryn Blackwood at the Toronto Fringe Festival and the Simcoe County Theatre Festival in Barrie, Ontario on July 2023.

One special performance coming up at Windrush Estate Winery on October 29th, 2023 at 4pm.

Details here.

LYRA
for String Quartet

Lyra for string quartet was inspired by the constellation of the same name. Although one of the smallest stars systems in our sky, it includes one of the brightest stars: Vega – which is one of my last names!

I wanted the piece to be a journey towards this star.

I traced the constellation on a piece of paper and “placed” each of the star points as musical notes in a 2 system staff paper. These notes become the motif of the piece:

The piece’s journey and final resolution to the note G is a portrayal of the star Vega and its importance in our sky.

Coming to the Array Music Space in Toronto on October 29th, 2023 at 7:30pm

Presented by the Untitled Ensemble in the Land of Lakes emerging composers concert.

RELEASING SOON

The Art Song Collaborative Project's newest collaboration Terra's Resurgence  brings 9 pieces by composers from Canada, United States and Iran.

Back in 2020 I commissioned 8 composers to write about the growing issue of Climate Change and pollution of our planet. Although the world came to a stop that year, thankful to the support and funding of the Canada Council for the Arts, the pieces was finally rehearsed and recorded in Toronto (and one in Savannah) in the summer of 2022.

This Fall we are finally releasing to the world our newest collaboration Terra's Resurgence as a YouTube series.

Beginning on October 2023 one piece will be release on our channel at 9pm every Thursday.

More details coming soon!
